I finally got to watch A Very Special Love! And to the Sarah Geronimo doubters, do not fret. She plays the grepa role, so it's all natural and keri, it doesn't bring down the movie.

At hindi lang ako ang atat manood. Late kami nakarating sa The Block and we had to buy food pa in (the mega-slow) KFC, kaya we missed the first five minutes of the movie. Sa sobrang rush, nag-iwanan na kami as soon as nakuha namin ang kaniya-kaniyang order. Kebs nalang talaga sa iba.

At dahil lahat ng tickets, na kay Alistair, he had to wait for the slowpokes before he could enter the movie. Nakita palang niya si Paolo and Mark Batac from afar, ang ginawa ni gaga, iniwan ang tickets sa sahig at pumasok sa sinehan. Friendship? What's that?

Anyway, dahil Debsoc ang kasama ko, it made it doubly hard to focus on the movie. Like, during the heaviest, most tear-jerking moments, either Sir bursts out laughing or Jovan says something like, "Stress, hindi ako maka-focus sa tatay. Magkapareho sila ng mata ni Chad Osorio."

And Jonjon was the worst! Dahil siya ang natatanging #1 fan ni Sarah Geronimo, may pagka-competitive siya sa panonood.

Anarod: Shucks, ang galing umiyak ni John Lloyd.
Jonjon: Magaling din naman ako umiyak eh. Just give me a chance!

Excited na kong magamit siya in real life.

*

App-Mem Mini-Mock last Saturday and for the first time in the history of Debsoc Saturday Events, I was one of the first people to arrive. Sabi ko pa naman, late ako dadating dahil first event na hindi na ko TNT VP. But no, pagdating ko ng 7:30, kahit ang tournament director wala pa.

Hemingway, I'm glad to announce that I have finally bagged my first collegiate title evar. Team Yanga, Yanga, 'Di Kami Tanga is the mini-mock champion! ...Okay, I officially grossed myself out now. Two titles nalang, matatalo ko na ang record ni Jonjon as Mini-Mock Diyosa.

A big, big congratulations to my partners, Migs and Aze! Good job, guys. ♥

*

Alice, Carlo and I went to LA's birthday party after the App-Mem mini-mock. It was slightly kind of awkward really fun hanging out with some of the debate crowd there, like DLSU and Lyceum, but it was so strange too.

For one, the Mapua debaters were all boys and straight. Like, after dinner, they all headed inside to play video games. And Alice and I were all, if this were Debsoc, we would have watched a John Lloyd movie already. We tried to imagine Monic, Nash, Yang and even Riley being competitive with the Wii, but our brain sort of died laughing halfway.

*

Our thesis topic got approved! I don't think I've had a happier moment in my academic life. Especially since our first proposal got rejected, i.e. two months of hard work down the frickin' drain. Anyway, Elsie and I are really happy about our new topic. It feels clearer and more tangible, so keri lang.

It's just so hard to do thesis. It's like, even if the deadline is so far away and you technically don't have to start work yet, you just always have to devote every living, breathing moment to it. Stress.

But since it's just the start, medyo masaya pa naman siya. Actually, when Elsie and I started fixing Chapter 1, I was honestly just kilig over everything. Ika nga ni Els, parang pag-ibig ang thesis. Sa simula, kinikilig ka pa. Tsk, mabibigat na salita.

My brother recently discovered BitTorrent, and since he's a lucky fucker and Ateneo let classes out as early as Feb 28, he's been doing nothing but download movies all vacation long.

And the films he's watching aren't even trashy teenage movies (which I totally prefer--hello, I loved Step Up 2). This morning, he was watching The Bicycle Thief. I hadn't even heard of that movie until we discussed it for Italian Neo-Realism in Film 100.

...How depressing is it that my 16 year-old brother has more culture than me?

My brain is so sabaw from finals week. I was half-asleep when I went down to the kitchen last night to get a glass of water, and I didn't bother to switch on the lightsended up walking right smack into the refrigerator.

Apparently, my mother had this brilliant idea to buy a new ref and reorganize the kitchen around it. It was so jarring, I couldn't even find the water dispenser. So, I gave up and went to bed thirsty. :(

Oh oh oh. And! I was so sabaw when my dad called up the other night. He's in Sydney for a business trip and he was making kwento about his meetings, chever chever. And then I suddenly asked, "So, have you seen any kangaroos?" My dad paused and he was like, "Uh, not in the city, darling." *facepalm*

Then, he was asking me what I was up to since both my parents weren't home. I made a joke that I was holding a really wild party while they were gone. And then he just laughed this kind of patronizing oh-my-poor-daughter-has-imaginary-friends laugh because he was sure I wasn't cool enough to do that. I mean, hello, I've been locked up at home studying.

So, my dad thinks I'm retarded and pathetic. I fail.

Debate

Worlds Tryouts are thankfully over. Well, for most people. I'm the one unlucky person who had to miss rounds and make up for them next week. Can you say hassle? What the hell are sovereign wealth funds anyway?

UPLB IVs are a few weeks away, and I'm sorry, competitive dapat (because Jowee will kill me). I haven't even paid the registration fee, and it's due this Friday, and Kath will be murderous if we force her to advance payments again.

I'm so drained from making matter exams every Monday and Tuesday nights. I don't think I've read this much matter in my entire life.

I just want this app period to end. I just want this year to end. I want to become a member--and just a member--and not have to worry about anything else but quotas.

Acads

Hm.

Still no paper on Amorsolo Revisited. It was due last week, and Ma'am Khan forgot to collect it. I was supposed to leave it in the department, but I'm stupidly pushing my luck and not even beginning to work on it.

Still no paper for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind due tomorrow. Ugh.

Still nothing done for everything Ma'am Chua wants done. Double ugh.

Everything Else

OMIGOD, I watched High School Musical 2 already. This is so gross, but I ♥ it. I can't wait to watch Hairspray.

Lastly, Dudung's resignation is taking its toll on me. I like driving, don't get me wrong. There's just nothing I hate more than looking for parking. It's so stressful.

Sigh. Hear me whine.

First cut of the semester! I totally forgot to wake up for my 8:30 AM Advertising class today. Dang.

Since I've just shared about J 121, I might as well follow it up with two other eventful classes I finally met this week.

To start it off, can I just say, my Film 110 (Black and White Photography) class is just whack. Don't get me wrong, I love photography and I can't wait to learn it. But the class policies are just crazy.

My Film 110's from 1 to 4 PM. Sir Jamon tells us that if wala pa siya sa class, we have to wait for him. Fair enough? Well, the thing is, we have to wait for him until 3:30 PM.

Secondly, his definition of "late" is when he arrives earlier in class than you do. It doesn't count if you're there early, but you had to pee, and he arrives while you're out. You're still late.

And if you're late, you have to stand in front of the class for the entire three-hour period--unless someone later than you arrives. The latest person of the class will be that day's model for photoshoots.

Lastly, you can't drop his class. Saya. Therefore, there is no escape.

On the bright side, he made us watch An Inconvenient Truth in class. Wala daw siyang koneksyon sa Film 110, but keber. He just wanted to make us watch it. Wahoo. Chever naman, dahil I've been meaning to watch this film for a long time.

Anyway, I totally loved the documentary. It felt like a really good science lecture. At ang benta sa akin ng humor ni Al Gore. And his presentation was so pretty. Medyo charot yung whole personal side to the film, but I loved it nonetheless.

My Journ 195 (Specialized Reporting on Fashion and Culture) naman has got to be my favorite class ever. For today's first meeting, we watched The Devil Wears Prada and Ma'am Khan even wanted to do a diagnostic exam on the designers mentioned in the movie.

Our cultural reporting consists of covering food and the arts. For fashion reporting naman, we're going to make personality profiles on fashion designers. For the final paper, we're making a more academic, straight article based on cool readings like Chic Theory and elite fashion. Winner talaga ang class na 'to.

I've started to apply for my driver's license and I hate it. I hate the long lines of sweaty people and the inefficency of LTO. Burukrasya nga naman talaga. And that written exam was just insane! Some of the questions were just out of this world:

How far must you park from the fire hydrant?
a. 2m
b. 3m
c. 4m

I mean, seriously. What's the difference??

The other half of the questions was just stupid.

If you're feeling sleepy while driving, what must you do?
a. Take shabu.
b. Take marijuana.
c. Stop somewhere and take a nap.

Augh.

The other questions were just useless because the answers were on posters plastered all over the exam room. As in, people were allowed to stand up and check out the asnwers. Kamusta talaga. No wonder we're all crazy drivers.

I still can't get the hang of having classes on Saturdays. It's a good thing I love my Comm 120 (Mass Media Law). Sir Khan totally rocks. He checks attendance at 9.20a for our 8.30a class.

*

I'm so relieved. Inquirer called back! I was sure I bombed their exams. They called me back today, though, and I'm getting a medical on Monday. *crosses fingers* I hope I get that scholarship.

*

I ♥ Andrew McMahon. Now that Something Corporate's gone missing, Jack's Mannequin is my new obsession.

*

I think this is just me, but I really hated My Sassy Girl. As in, hate. I tried watching it a year ago, but I couldn't take it. I think I stopped the DVD after ten minutes, when they got into the motel. It was kinda cute, pero nakakatamad panoorin. I tried watching it a few days ago, to give it a second chance. But no, after half an hour, I chucked it out. I'm sorry talagaaaa. All the girl does is be tough, morbid and bossy for no apparent reason. Argh.

*

TV Links and YouTube have been my saving graces as of late. I caught Spice World (ZOMG, I know) and (another guilty pleasure) Popular. This episode pa features Josh and Harrison trying to get into a John Travolta fans club--via a dance-off--so they can put it in their resume. "The group's called Stayin' Alive. Colleges will think we're in this Anti-Euthanasia Movement or something," says Harrison. Winner. :P

Enrollment started today and, as usual, it was crazy. I was missing two required subjects, Econ 100.1 and Journ 121. That being the case, I should have been in UP even before deparments opened and advisers arrived. But no, I woke up at 10 AM.

My problem pa was that J 121 was a prereq for other subjects next sem, so I couldn't not get it. But all the sections were closed and they're unpreroggable. It's a layouting class, so the capacity's really based on how many computers there are in the Beltran News Room. So, how do you solve a problem like that? Well, er, I dunno how. I just know that as much as the CRS gods were cruel to me, but the Manual Enrollment ones weren't. As in, pagpasok na pagpasok ko ng Journ Enlistment room, isang tumataginting na "Journ 121 - 1 slot" ang bumati sa'kin. As in, mahiya na kung mahiya, I was all, "Omigod, that's mine! That's mine!" in the middle of the room. Kebs. At least hindi na ko madedelay.

At ito pa, nothing short of a Manual Enrollment Miracle: nakapag-manual ako ng FOUR subjects. Oo, apat. Oh yeah, I rock.

Time Monday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday
8:30-10:00 Mass Media and Society Advertising Mass Media Law
10:00-11:30
11:30-1:00 Introduction to Psychology Introduction to Psychology
1:00-2:30 The Newsroom Tenpin Bowling Photography Specialized Reporting
2:30-4:00

I have classes, even on Wednesdays and Saturdays, so I just had to clear out one day for a break. That meant missing out on prerogging Lanuza's Sociology of Education. Boo.

Also, I'm torn! Keep (Hudson's?) Psych 101 or try to get Sapitula's Sociology of Social Organization? Wuh. Kailangang mag-reflect.

And yes, I moved heaven and hell--even, delay Econ 100.1--just to get J 195: Specialized Reporting. Just because, this semester, they're doing Fashion, Culture and Entertainment. Oyeh. Now, that's fieldwork I'm looking forward to.

Quick Movie Reviews:

Shrek 3
Terrible and un-funny. I wanted to walk out of the theater in the middle of the movie. JT - Don't quit your day job.

Mr. Bean
Funny, I totally loved it. Or maybe that's just me. I'm such a sucker for travel humor and Rowan Atkinson.

Ocean's 13
Complicated, confusing but still a winner. Love the suits, love the heists, love Matt Damon, George Clooney, Brad Pitt and that other guy.

I really don't know whether to love or hate my CWTS.

On one hand, it's an interesting subject. We watched Siguion-Reyna's At All Costs, an unnerving yet hilarious documentary on GMA's alleged electoral cheating. It's also cool because I'm working in CenPEG (Center for Peole Empowerment and Governance) for Task Force Poll Watch and to make a content analysis on COMELEC coverage by national broadsheets.

On the other hand, I hate how unorganized the facilitators are. The whole day of yesterday, they were orienting us on their NGOs, and they couldn't even give tell us what our schedules were and who we should report to. They're kind of the most important details. BUT NO, they were able to give us all these other trivial projects. I mean, they gave us an assignment: make a paper about your expectations about the course. I hate it when professors use that to kick off a class at the beginning of a sem, complete with stating your name, course and other mundane questions. Second, they're requiring us to make daily journal entries about our CWTS work. We asked, even on weekends? They said, yes, because we should internalize volunteerism every day of the effing week. Ampota.

Haha, my mom saw my CWTS 1 professor, Sir Tolentino. He saw him in the Bayan Muna campaign, in all his mohawk glory. Her only reaction: "Do you trust that man?"

Anyway, everyone's talking about it, I have to join in. Spider-Man 3 was cool. It was long and dragging at the start though, but then again, they had to weave in a lot of new characters, or at least, new stories of old characters. I liked the movie, it was funny and tearjerking (well, then again, I cry at everything) at the same time. There were some cheesy moments, but overall, it was worth the wait. One pet peeve though: Evil Peter Parker looks like an emo punk rocker. He totally looked like the long-lost member of My Chemical Romance at his most evil point.

Random TV tidbits gathered from weeks of couch-potato-ing:
Blake Lewis looks better in his darker hair. I loved his version of You Give Love A Bad Name. Also, thank god, Chris Richardson is gone. I hate his tinny voice. His whole "Nasaly is a style of singing" is crap.

Man Utd lost to AC Milan in Leg 2 of the UEFA Semis! Oh fucking yeah. Also, Kaka looked so hot playing in the rain. :P

Conan's doing a series of shows in San Francisco (As usual, just in time for the sweeps season, take note, my BC classmates. Represent!), so Jay Leno had him over The Tonight Show. It was so great, Conan trumped Leno easily! Leno would ask one question, and Conan totally took it from there and led the whole segment. Woot! They say he's scheduled to replace him in 2009.

Anyway, on his San Francisco episode, he did a whole segment on Lucasfilm and Star Wars with a visit to Industrial Light and Magic, a huge-ass special effects studio. At one point, he even tries on that suit they use to make digital characters, and makes C3P0 do his infamous String Dance. Take a look!

I know this is really late na, but tangina, 300 was orgasmic. I mean, I hate gory, violent, man films, but this was a must-see film. I loved the stylized cinematography of the film. Every second of the movie would have made for a beautiful still. I loved the battle scenes--well, whatever battle scenes I could catch when I wasn't closing my eyes. Basta. Alpha-male agression has never been that hot.

Rodrigo Santoro--a hot, hot man in Love Actually--looked so gay with his bombastic chair/chariot and overplucked eyebrows. Gerard Butler was great, although, as Tet said, I was half-expecting him to burst into a Spartan rendition of All I Ask Of You. And I super crush on the captain's son. Yes, yes, I know. He looked like the softest among the 300. But I think that was exactly why I was rooting for him. And also, Misha pointed out, there were homoerotic overtones between the captain's son and that blond soldier. Waaaz.

Claire: The 300 soldiers are hot!
Misha: You're enjoying this.
Claire: Omigod, the queen is hot!
Misha: Aren't I supposed to be the one saying that?

We watched a clip about the making of 300, and apparently, super wala silang budget. During the shoot, there were around 15 soldiers lang, and it was all done in the studio. Wafaz. Infernez nalang to the internalization ng actors of their roles. It's hard to feel all psyched up about battling the non-existent, yet-to-be-digitally-created Persian army.

Ermengaarde, I wanna watch it again. NICOLO! Does it count in our yearly movie quota if it's the same movie watched twice? :P

I've been running on caffeine all day. I swear, I can no longer function without it. It keeps me sane on days when I've had just a few hours of sleep, a dangerously perky 4 to 7PM class and a ton of paperwork to accomplish when I get home. Like today. Hay, Mondays.

We're on the police beat in my News Writing class. Warla talaga. Don't get me wrong. I'm not laughing at those poor unfortunate souls. Pero kamusta naman ang paggawa ko ng 700-word article diba?

I can't believe it, hindi ko pa napapanood ang Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo. Wuuh. I withstood Exodus last year because I was determined to watch at least one MMFF movie every year. But no, Exodus palang so far ang aking napapanood. Warla.

Speaking of movies, Sir Lejano made us watch The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari last week. Kamusta naman, Jali texted me at around midnight: "Baka pinapanood ka ni Cesare at ni Dr. Caligari sa labas ng bintana mo, hala ka." Potaaaa. *exclusive witteh* Kriz, dignify my anecdote. :P

Ermengaaaarde, wafaz ang araw ko! Nawalan ng batt ang aking cellphone at wala na kong mahiraman dahil sorta kinda gabi na kami dinismiss kanina. When I went to Vinzons, no one was there. Enpordat, I commuted home. Wafaaaaaz. Haggard talaga. I walked around first, trying to find someone I knew. Then, I debated on whether I should take a taxi or a jeep. It turns out, lahat ng taxi, may sakay na. Ang mga jeep naman, hanggang 6PM lang tumatawid ng highway from Balara to Tandang Sora. Wafaz! So, I had to like, bribe some tricycle guy to take me from Balara to Tierra Pura. At from the gate, naglakad to my house. It was terrible. And fun. In a you-could-get-stabbed-in-the-dark sort of way.

I will not to cut any class this week. Promise.

Warlaaaa, PIDC tryouts na on Saturday! I'm missing one more seeding debate and I've got six unopened issues of The Economist in my room waiting to be matterloaded on. I foresee na wala akong matatapos.

My emo anthem right now. )

I conducted my first-ever Personality Interview today. I needed a good interviewee that would give me tons of material to work on, so I could quote liberally. Enter Pat, the National Treasure. But of course, I wouldn't have been able to do that without my handy tape recorder! Enter Ice. Thanks to both of you! You shall be acknowledged in my book, Claire's Beginnings as a Journalist, along with Inna and Ponce, my Crime Beat buddies. Para diba, in case I get shot down in a far-flung province, you shall all be immortalized. Morbid much?

The interview was almost off to a bad start.

Pat: Para saan 'to?
Claire: For Teodoro's class.
Pat: Dude, that man hates me.

Not very encouraging, right? Pero keber, kailangan na lang karirin ang paggawa. It's due on Tuesday, but because I'll be gone this weekend, I'm not sure I'll have enough time to work on it.

This dokyu for Pan Pil 17 is much, much harder than I thought! Wuuh, we have to interview tons of people tomorrow, which means I'll have to lug around that heavy camera. Did I mention we even have to make an MTV?? Kamusta naman, how do you make an MTV about student-vendors?? o.0 My gods, this is like a horrible repeat of My Slums.

Speaking of My Slums, Neeks is leaving tomorrow! Ahcantbelieveit. >.<

New Mem-Old Mem Mini-Mock's over. Congrats to the Hamasian Debaters, Blonde and Aaron (1/2 of APRON) for getting a perfect break! And congrats also to my partner, April (the other 1/2 of APRON) for our win in the 3rd round. :)

Wuuh. Tomorrow irrelease ang results of the Journ Club app period! I'm so nervous about it. At kamusta naman, you have to go to the tambayan and get the letter of rejection/acceptance from the drawer. So, makikita ka pa ng mga mems as you slowly approach the Filing Cabinet of Doom. Pakshet.

The Devil Wears Prada is ♥! The clothes are to die for, and nakaka-ER siya. Yang and I love the scene in the car where Miranda goes, "But everyone wants to be us." And then she puts on her shades and a bright smile as she exits the car to greet the photographers.

UPLB IVs na on Friday! Woot woot woot! This is the road trip/pseudo-vacation I've been looking for. Namamatay na ko this sem, I want a break to get away from it all. And infarnez to the tadhana of the world, I don't have Journ or Pan Pil on Friday. The only thing I'll be missing is Philo. And really, I'd even be shocked if Lumagbas was there.

WUUH. I have such an U-G-L-Y sched next sem. All the classes I want are once a week, three hours each. Enpordat, my Mondays are 1PM to 7PM straight. Tuesdays are worse, they start at 10AM and end at 7PM. Pakingshet, right? If anything, at least I have Wednesdays and Thursdays free.

Major Majors Dilemma:
Chua or Khan for J102? Feeling ko mamamatay ako sa haggard-ness ng class ni Chua!

Jamon or De Guzman for Film 110? Ang aga ng sched ni De Guzman eh, 8:30.

Aseron or Avecilla for BC 100? Aseron is prepared, nice and friendly. Avecilla daw, well, isn't. But then again, parang exciting siya kunin. At ego thing din yun no! I wanna know if papasa ako by his standards. I wanna know if he'll invite me to the partner sorority of his frat. Although, kapag napaginitan naman niya ko, patay ako. Baka tumataginting na SIETE ang grade ko, dabah. Mahirap na. Not to mention ang strict ng dress code niya. Wuuh.

Hemingways, back to transcribing the interview. Paalam, LJ world. :)

Dana, Mimi and I went to the Cinemalaya 2006 in the UP Film Institute today. We watched Tulad ng Dati by Mike Sandejas. As a lot of people may already know, it's a film about the exploits of The Dawn: their rise to fame, the death of Teddy Diaz, and their decline to has-been level. That past is revisited when Jett Pangan, The Dawn's lead singer, is assaulted by a burglar, and he suffers selective amnesia.

The film won Best Picture, Best Editing and Best Sound. Well, it's the only film I've seen in Cinemalaya so far, but I was honestly blown away. The editing was crisp, and the dramatic scenes weren't drawn-out and over the top. You have to watch it, it's really worth it. Actually, P50 lang siya, so panoorin niyo na talaga. So, shameless plug: UP Film Institute, August 10, Thursday, 9 PM.

Infurnace talaga, now I can't get over it. I'm watching the Short Films tomorrow with Aaron. They sound interesting too, especially 10:25 ng Gabi. Plus I wanna check out that film by Pepe Diokno, No Passport Needed.

Hemingways, Activity ko na sa JC sa Friday! Homaygulay, I'm nervous, but surprisingly, not as nervous as I thought I'd be. Akala ko major freaked-out level, pero keri ko pa naman. I'm following Joan's words, "character-building 'to, pare." Enpordat, go lang ng go!

Nawindang ako, NINE meetings nalang kami before our finals in PolSci! Wuuh, we missed so many meetings because of the SONA and the storms, that we can't discuss the class approach anymore. WUUH. Dang. This makes my elective-situation worse. Most All the higher Pol Sci subjects that I wanna take as electives have both Pol Sci 11 and 14 as pre-reqs. I'm only taking allowed to take 14. Tapos ngayon, incomplete pa ang discussion ni Pilapil sa 14. Kamusta naman diba? And how does that COI thing work anyway? Wuuh, help!

Today has got to be the best day ever.

Never mind that I had an ungodly 7 AM call time for Big Mock. Never mind na nakakahaggard to the next level ang food committee (which still managed to botch up a few things). Never mind na scary ang motions ng rounds.

I had a really good pseudo-tryouts with Joan, miraculously pulling off insta-cases on insurance and Israel (yeah, matter, baby). Favorite debate ko ang huli, dahil after all, master ang Debsoc sa deviance and anti-social behavior. Ayon nga kay Yang and BJ diba. Magskateboard ka lang, ikukulong ka na. ;)

Hemingways, the best part of the day was yet to come. Yep, tinalo niya ang aking excursion with David and his saw. Jonats (who finally forgave me *wink*), Inna, Joan and I went to Gateway after Big Mock. We were supposed to watch Superman Returns, since kami na lang ata ang hindi nakakanood. But no, pagdating sa pila, hindi namin na pigilan ang aming sarili. We just had to watch...

The Lake House!

Shet, dudeparechong. That is the best movie ever. Nung una, akala namin sayang lang ang P160 namin, at ang tissue na hiningi namin bago pumasok sa sinehan. But no. The ending hits you outta nowhere. Needless to say, mega-iyakan kaming mga girls, habang si Jonats, hindi na-gets ang movie.

Promise talaga! As in, everyone had left the theater already, at andun pa rin kaming apat, habang kami nina Inna and Joan andun pa rin, tumatawa and umiiyak at the same time. Jonats stayed away from us, nakakahiya daw kami. :P

Wuuh, hindi lang yun! We couldn't stop feeling depressed and heartbroken (but in a good way) about the movie, so (and Evette will love this) we hung out at Dairy Queen/Orange Julius first. And ito na ang pinakanakakahiyang moment of the night. So there we are, with out Brownie Temptations comfort food, when the fastfood place suddenly plays sad, weepy songs! Grabe talagaaaaa. You won't believe it, pero naiyak kaming tatlooooo. Homaygolleh. :))

After that, Inna drove us all back. It was the best car ride ever. Yellow light, faint breeze, and the pretty moonlight. We were all singing silly and romantic songs, and shouting once in a while. Sheet. Promise, nakakatanggal ng angst, depression, inis sa mga tao, at kung anu-ano pang issue na meron. Kahit na lahat kami na-frustate sa aming single-ness. Hohohoho.

Kaya, guys, next Friday ulit! :P Damihan na natin ang experiences natin this week para hindi si Yabut ang mag-monopolize ng conversations. ;)

Finally! After all our gripes about burnouts, and debate dilemmas... you learn to appreciate it all over again. Thanks to you guys for today. ;)

I remember we were driving
Driving in your car
The speed so fast I felt like I was drunk
City lights lay out before us
And your arm felt nice wrapped 'round my shoulder
And I had a feeling that I belonged
And I had feeling I could be someone
Be someone, be someone...

I wish I had more time. I have to read 6 readings for tomorrow: Lords of the Press and New Lords of the Press, both by Shiela Coronel, for Journ 101; Sexism and Language, The Great Person-Hole Cover Debate, Words and Change, for Pan Pil 17; and The Apology by Plato for Philo 10. What does it matter that they’re all pretty interesting articles, it’s not like I can get to read all of them by tomorrow. Boo.

I’m reaping the perks of being a Mass Comm student. I went along with my blockmates today to watch Il Mare in the Audio-Visual Library’s viewing room. It was just a small place, good for 5 people at most. It was like a barkada movie outing, and you just so happen to have an extensive library of good titles to back it up. I almost forgot it was for class.

Il Mare was really good. The Lake House and Moments of Love (?) were adaptations of this Korean movie, but the original, obviously, was still the best version. I’m not taking Film 100 yet, so I don’t wanna toss out terms and critique, and pretend to know what I’m talking about. All I can say is that the camerawork was great. I even appreciated the slow, relaxed, pace of the movie, and the quiet feel about it. The plot was, well, after you swallow the Magic Mailbox premise, keri na siya. And yes, it’s such a sappy, kilig movie, we were screaming and hooting in the viewing room. Good thing the place was soundproof.

I really hate it when people assume that just because I’m a debater, whenever I recite, it’s because I want to contradict the teacher/student, or pick a fight. That’s why it’s doubly hilarious for me when I see my classmates get all riled up because of a simple, trivial question posed by the teacher. In Comm 100, Ma’am Jazmines simply asked if a Coldplay concert counted as interpersonal or mass communication. We had a classmate na mega defend ng sagot niya, nang-bubully pa siya ng mga tao who believed otherwise. As in, with matching nanlalaking mata ito at interrupting others who were reciting ha. After everything, nalaman niyang mali pala ang sagot niya.

Dad broke a pitcher and a glass by accident last night. I don’t know how anyone can even break a glass and a pitcher at the same time, but he did. Grabe, reaching new levels of klutziness. It was so funny, cos the maids were wondering why the pitcher was missing, at ang una pa nilang inaccuse ay kami ni Rob. But no, ang tatay pala. We can’t stop laughing about it. Rob even acts it out on slow motion. Now, dad doesn’t wanna take me and Rob to watch Superman Returns anymore on Saturday. Boo. :P

Mrs. R took me out to dinner yesterday after STC training. Infernez talaga. At first it was so weird riding in your teacher’s car, getting treated to dinner and being told tons of stories by your old moderator. But we’re really good friends, and it was one of the most de-stressing night-outs I have as of late. It really anchors me back to how I was before all the chorvaness of college, before I even knew of the word chorvaness. Nakaka-miss na talaga. Hm. *sigh*

I finally got around to watching Elizabethtown on DVD. I loved it instantly. I was just supposed to watch the first few minutes since I was waiting for American Idol on Star (Ace finally got kicked out, BTW. Thank goodness.), but I got hooked and watched it straight. Some people may find it a bit fluffy, but hey, I like my fluff. The movie just felt so natural, freeflowing and insightful, especially on its thoughts about grief, success, and people in general.

I also liked Kirsten Dunst's character, especially her kooky theories about names and people. "Bens are strangely delightful. And very intuitive. Complex. Almost too complex to be around. Do you know any Bens?"

Pero winner pa rin ang "I'm hard to remember but impossible to forget." Wuh, I wish I were a Claire. And I wish I had a Drew. :P Then we'd be good Substitute People.

WUH, I can't take this Env Sci Dilemma! Sorry, I've ranted about this so many times to some people, nakakasawa na siguro.

Last night, I was still getting all paranoid about the whole Missing Class Card issue. But I thought of some quitters-never-win, winners-never-quit thing, so I decided to give my oh-so-beloved class another try. Enpordat, maaga nanaman ako for class (YES! Infernez na talaga to me.), todo kinig at todo notes ako. And then, surprise, nagpalabas siya ng isang buong papel para sa isang pagsusulit! 60 POINTS at COMPUTATIONS siyaaaaa. WUUUUHHH. This does not bode well for me.

At mas malala, I didn't have a scientific calculator, and of all the days, I left my cellphone in the car! Kamusta naman ang manual computations. I can feel a failing grade.

...Now, should I drop or not?

WUUH ang daming changes na nangyayari sa mga taooooo. I feel so frustrated.

Had just one class today, Journ 100. And it took me all I had to not cut it and sleep in, but then again, bagong taon, bagong buhay. Cheka. But the class was fairly interesting. Watched Batas Militar. Cringed at all the torture scenes, especially of Boyet Mejares. Wuuuh. Ice pick wounds and nails pulled out. o.0

Hung out (finally) with Vinny today. :)) Was supposed to give him a dose of the UP life and make him eat at Ababu. But no, hindi niya kineri. At ang reaction: "Persian food? Umm, like, Iraqi food?" Mwahahaha. :)) Ended up eating expensive sandwiches, chips and dip at Eastwood. How far away from Ababu can you get?? :))

And yes, we just had to watch a movie. Seeing as the only choices were Blue Moon, Enteng Kabisote, Exouds and Ako Legal Wife, it was just a process of elimination. I've watched Ako Legal Wife, Vinny refused to watch Blue Moon, and we couldn't take Enteng Kabisote. So, yep, it was Adventures of the Enchanted Kingdom for usssss! *fake excitement* :P

If you wanna watch the movie, don't read this. Spoilers.

Can I just say, ang chaka ng start ng movie a. It was in EK (no, duh), with people all rushing in to the Rialto ('twas so fake. Everyone had their whole giddy-face-pretending-not-to-glance-at-the-camera-but-I-couldn't-help-it expression.) when magically, Elgar the Wizard pops out of nowhere! Woot woot. :P And kamusta naman ang opening line niya:

"Ito ay kwento ni Exodus. Hindi siya hayop. Isa lamang siyang tao."

Huwaw.

And the plot was so-so. A little LOTR-esque. To defeat Haring Bagulbol, the villain (I know, it's such an unscary, unevil sounding name!), Exodus had to capture the engkantos. You'd think there'd be stories per engkanto and an actual worthy-of-the-P70M-production struggle and fight scene, BUT NO. Tinapunan lang niya ng kadena at tapos na. Huwaaaw.

And can I jsut say, very little character development, I swear. Every character had like, 3 lines each. Plus the cave scene was just stupid, I swear. There were these little tarsier/frog-looking things that attacked the kid engkanto. He got bit just like that, and this supposedly all-powerful Fire Kid doesn't even flame them to death? WUUUH. And all the old man had to do was tap his staff against the cave floor and they all went scuttling away. Sheesh.

And I couldn't stop laughing at the part where Iya was getting furious while at the cave, when they were surrounded by the tarsier things, and she said, "Hindi pa huli ang lahat!" all furiously and all. And in the middle of her raging fit, she changed costume. To pink. Err, yeah.

Oh well. I guess the laugh trip and the free ride-all-you-can EK ticket made the P120 movie worth it. I think. :P

Kinarir ko talaga ang planner a la Dana. May pa-art-art na kong nalalaman ngayon. :P Infernez to me. :))

Kamusta naman ang app process ko sa UP Journalism Club. Meron pang Mission Week na nalalaman. WTH? And there's also a publication that we have to make. I almost poked fun at that one too, when I realized, hey, that's what my course actually does.
